Elliott Wins Wurth 400 at Texas, Secures Second Victory of 2026 Season

Chase Elliott secured his second NASCAR Cup Series victory of the 2026 season on May 3, winning the Wurth 400 at Texas Motor Speedway. Elliott led 87 laps during the race and won Stage 2. He clinched the win after a late restart, with Denny Hamlin finishing second.

This win marks Elliott's second of the season, making him one of two multi-race winners in 2026, alongside Tyler Reddick. His previous victory occurred at Martinsville, where Hamlin also finished as the runner-up.

Alex Bowman recorded his second consecutive third-place finish, following a similar result at Talladega. Bowman returned to competition after missing a month due to vertigo.

Conversely, Christopher Bell finished 38th after a collision with Todd Gilliland while leading the race. This marks Bell's fourth consecutive finish outside the top 15, with previous results of 27th, 20th, and 17th. Kyle Larson, the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series champion, finished 31st after a single-car incident where his car spun out. Larson has not yet secured a Cup Series win in the 2026 season.
