Easter Message of Hope in Lakeland | Rev. Reeb Sermon
Rev. Dr. Charley Reeb framed Easter as God's affirmation of life, describing the resurrection as God's victory of life over death, love over hate, and forgiveness over sin.
"Jesus Christ did raise from the grave. He is alive," Reeb said. "That means the same power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead lives and breathes in each one of us."
Reeb addressed those facing despair, saying Easter's message speaks to people who feel discouraged or exhausted. He cited Jesus's words: "I am the way, the truth and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die yet shall they live."
Reeb compared death to a loyal dog entering an unfamiliar room with its master. "We don't know what's on the other side, but one thing we know, the master is there and because of that, everything is going to be all right," he said.
He also stressed valuing life itself. Quoting John 10:10, where Jesus says "I have come that you might have life and have it in all of its abundance," Reeb noted this refers not just to an afterlife but to living fully with God now.
