New York – E. Jean Carroll has received $5.6 million from Donald Trump, concluding a legal action that found Trump liable for sexual abuse and defamation. The payment was delivered three years after a jury in a separate civil trial had reached that determination.

The case involved allegations that Trump sexually abused Carroll in the mid-1990s and then defamed her when she publicly accused him. A jury in 2023 found Trump liable for sexual abuse and defamation, awarding Carroll approximately $5 million. Following a separate trial in January 2024, another jury awarded Carroll an additional $83.3 million in damages for further defamatory statements Trump made.

Trump's legal team had pursued appeals regarding the judgments. The payment of $5.6 million specifically resolves components of the initial judgment.
