Downtown Fort Lauderdale Structure Fire: What We Know So Far
A ladder crew responded to a reported structure fire at 255 SE 3rd Ave in downtown Fort Lauderdale, and this is what we know so far.
There is no additional public information yet on injuries, the size of the fire, or whether crews had the blaze under control, according to the dispatch information available at this stage.
The incident was dispatched as a structure fire, which typically signals a fire inside or involving a building and can prompt a higher initial response because crews may need to check for victims, protect nearby properties, and establish water supply and access quickly.
Emergency response records show L2 was sent to the scene, indicating a ladder company response. Ladder trucks are generally deployed for roof access, ventilation, search operations, and support at multi-story or complex structures.
Dispatch records show prior incidents at this address, including another call on May 29, a medical emergency on May 21, and an overdose on May 15. Those earlier calls do not appear to be connected to Wednesday’s fire, but they show the location has generated prior emergency responses this spring.
No official cause has been released, and it is not clear whether fire investigators will be called in. Additional updates would typically come from Fort Lauderdale fire officials or police if the response expands or if the cause is determined.
Day.News will continue to update this story as officials release more information.
