Dodgers Pitcher Blake Snell to Undergo Elbow Surgery
Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Blake Snell will undergo surgery to remove loose bodies from his left elbow. The procedure follows his return from the injured list and a single start where he allowed four earned runs.
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Blake Snell will undergo surgery to remove loose bodies in his left elbow, manager Dave Roberts announced Saturday. Snell's operation is scheduled for next week. The team anticipates a quicker recovery timeline for Snell compared to Edwin Díaz, another Dodgers pitcher who underwent a similar procedure on his right elbow on April 22.
The Dodgers scratched Snell from his scheduled start against the Los Angeles Angels on Friday, subsequently placing him back on the 15-day injured list. He will likely transfer to the 60-day injured list.
Snell made his season debut on May 9 against the Atlanta Braves after an earlier-than-anticipated return from the injured list. In that start, Snell pitched three innings, yielding six hits and four earned runs. This marked his 12th regular season start and 18th overall appearance since signing a five-year, $182 million contract with Los Angeles in November 2024. Last season, Snell made 11 regular season starts, five playoff starts, and one playoff relief appearance.
