Diageo Opens $415M Alcohol Plant in Montgomery, AL

National Desk
April 22, 2026
Montgomery, AL – Diageo North America marked the official opening of its 360,000-square-foot alcohol production and warehousing facility in Montgomery on Tuesday, fulfilling plans announced in January 2025. The $415 million project, now fully operational in the second half of 2025 as projected, will produce multi-million cases annually for Diageo's top beverage alcohol brands, enhancing the company's North American supply chain and export operations.[1] City leaders celebrated the milestone at the industrial park site, emphasizing its role in diversifying Montgomery's economy beyond traditional sectors.[2] The facility's construction generated approximately 750 temporary jobs, transitioning now to 100 full-time positions in manufacturing and logistics.[1] Montgomery Mayor Steven L. Reed joined Diageo executives for the ribbon-cutting, praising the investment for reinforcing the city's position as a key Southeastern hub. The Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce echoed the enthusiasm, noting the plant's alignment with ongoing expansions in the region's thriving industrial parks.[2][4] This development underscores Alabama's rising appeal for major manufacturers, with Diageo's footprint set to support local suppliers and workforce training programs. The plant's strategic location near interstates and rail lines positions Montgomery for sustained growth in beverage distribution, a sector gaining traction amid national supply chain shifts.[1][3]
