Demetrius T. Travis, Oakland Park Community Mourns Loss of Humorous and Kind Native

Demetrius T. Travis, a Miami native known for his humor and kindness, passed away recently. Born on March 31, 2006, Demetrius was celebrated for bringing laughter and joy to family gatherings and for his helpful heart.

Demetrius received his education at Vankara, Opa-locka Elementary, Carol City Middle, and Carol City Senior High. His family described him as a devoted son, brother, and uncle.

He is survived by his mother, Murlande Sam; his father, Derricke Travis; and his second mother, Tanitha Dawson. Demetrius was an uncle to five nieces and nephews: Kianna, Ke’moni, Damonte, Diamonte, and Jamilaa. He also leaves behind six sisters, Keondra, Britney, Renay, Naria, Travia, and Nariyah, and three brothers, Terrell, Derricke, and Maurice.

A mother's tribute shared, “My heart is broken, and life would never be the same without you. I am grateful for every moment, every smile, and every memory we shared. I will love you for all my days and carry you with me with everything I do. Rest in peace my beloved child Demetrius. You will forever be in my heart and never be forgotten.”
