Davie House Fire: One Dead, Investigation Underway
A fire in Davie killed one person, and investigators are now working to determine how it started, according to authorities and local reporting.
The victim was a 73-year-old man who lived in a separate, detached structure on the property, according to NBC Miami and Local 10 News. Davie Fire Rescue said crews responded to a report of a residence fire with someone possibly trapped inside. “Upon arrival, crews quickly knocked down the fire and tragically, there appears to be one fatality associated with this incident,” a spokesperson said.
The building suffered heavy damage, with aerial video showing a charred roof and walls and much of the structure destroyed, according to local coverage. Officials said the fatality was tied to the detached structure fire, and the man did not survive.
Davie police, fire rescue, the Life Safety Division Fire Investigator and the State Fire Marshal were requested to assist with the investigation, according to authorities. Local reporting said the exact cause remained undetermined at the time of coverage.
Dispatch records show prior incidents at this address, including a medical emergency on May 23 and another call on May 19.
