Dania Beach Brush Fire: What We Know So Far
A brush fire burning in western Broward County had grown to at least 120 acres by about 9 p.m., with officials later saying it had reached 200 acres and was about 50% contained. This is what we know so far.
According to the Florida Forest Service, the fire was reported near U.S. 27 and Griffin Road, where crews from Davie Fire Rescue, the Florida Forest Service and Broward Sheriff’s Office Fire Rescue were working on scene. The agency’s wildfire incident tracking system showed the blaze had burned about 120 acres by 9 p.m., while WSVN later reported that at least 200 acres had burned.
WSVN also reported that no homes were in danger and that no injuries or fatalities had been confirmed in the available coverage. CBS News Miami likewise described the incident as a brush fire in western Broward near Griffin Road and U.S. 27.
The response included roadway closures, with WSVN reporting that the southbound lane of U.S. 27 was shut down and Broward Sheriff’s Office units blocked traffic near the fire. Drivers were advised to make a U-turn and use I-595 instead.
Davie Fire Rescue said its suppression units, along with state forestry crews and Broward Sheriff’s Office Fire Rescue, were actively working to bring the fire under control. The multiagency response suggests a fast-moving wildfire incident requiring both local and state resources.
Dispatch records show prior incidents at this address on May 27 and May 20, but those records do not provide details tying those calls to the current fire.
No cause, suspect or formal investigation update had been announced in the available coverage. Additional updates would typically come from fire officials as containment improves and crews assess the scene.
