While no specific local cases have been reported in North Miami Beach, residents should be aware of this ongoing national investigation. The CDC reported that illness onset dates for those affected ranged from May 1 to June 6, with a median onset of May 13. Patients' ages ranged from 5 to 86, with a median age of 42. Of the 145 people with available information, 20 required hospitalization, and no deaths have been reported.

The CDC's investigation focuses on identifying specific food sources linked to the infections. Public health officials typically advise thorough washing of all fruits and vegetables, especially those consumed raw. Cooking produce thoroughly can also kill the parasite. Residents should consult a healthcare provider if they experience symptoms consistent with cyclosporiasis.
