Public Works Department Announces Crane Creek Blvd Closure for Maintenance
WEST MELBOURNE – The West Melbourne Public Works Department has announced a temporary closure of a section of Crane Creek Boulevard, effective next week, to facilitate essential infrastructure maintenance. Residents who regularly use this thoroughfare should plan alternate routes.
The closure will impact Crane Creek Boulevard between Minton Road and Hollywood Boulevard. Work is scheduled to begin on Monday, April 22, 2026, and is expected to conclude by the end of the day on Friday, April 26, 2026, weather permitting. The Public Works Department stated the closure is necessary to safely conduct repairs and upgrades to the stormwater drainage system in the area, a project deemed critical for preventing future flooding—a key concern in flood-prone Brevard County—and maintaining road integrity.
Detour signs will be prominently posted to guide motorists around the affected section. Drivers traveling eastbound on Crane Creek Boulevard will be directed north on Minton Road, then east on Hollywood Boulevard to reconnect with Crane Creek Boulevard. Westbound traffic will follow the reverse route. Local access for residents living within the closed segment will be maintained, though delays should be anticipated.
City officials urge motorists to exercise caution when approaching the work zone and to adhere to all posted signage. Residents with questions or concerns regarding the road closure can contact the West Melbourne Public Works Department during regular business hours.
This maintenance project is part of the city's ongoing commitment to improving and maintaining West Melbourne's infrastructure, ensuring safe and efficient roadways for all residents in this vibrant Space Coast community.
