Traffic Alert: County Route 64 Closure Scheduled for Pipe Replacement

Motorists in the Town of Chemung, near Elmira, should prepare for a temporary closure of County Route 64 (Post Creek Road) next month. The Chemung County Department of Public Works has announced that a section of the road will be closed on Tuesday, June 18th, and Wednesday, June 19th, 2024.

The closure will affect County Route 64 between Chambers Road and Wilawana Road. During these two days, the road will be inaccessible to traffic from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM each day. The Department of Public Works states that the closure is necessary to facilitate essential pipe replacement work.

Residents and Elmira-area commuters who regularly use this route are advised to plan for alternative travel arrangements during the specified hours on June 18th and 19th. The department encourages motorists to seek different routes to avoid delays and ensure safety while the work is underway.
