Cooper City House Fire: What We Know So Far
A Cooper City home was damaged in an early Friday fire, but no injuries were reported and investigators are now trying to determine what sparked the blaze, according to WSVN and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue.
Firefighters extinguished the fire after heavy smoke and visible damage, especially in the garage and attic areas, according to WSVN.
Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue said it does not appear anyone was home when the fire broke out, and no injuries were reported.
The agency also said the State Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate the cause of the fire. Officials said the cause has not yet been determined.
Emergency crews quickly brought the fire under control, and the response involved Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue, indicating a structure fire significant enough to require a fire marshal investigation and a post-fire origin review.
Dispatch records show 71 similar structure fire incidents in Cooper City over the past six months.
What happens next will depend on the State Fire Marshal’s findings, and officials are expected to release more information as the investigation continues.
Day.News will continue to update this story as officials release more information.
