City Council to Consider Medical Clinic, Dock Flexibilities, and Land Use Changes
Clearwater City Council is set to review several key development proposals and land use amendments at an upcoming meeting. Among the items on the agenda are requests for flexible development approvals for a new medical clinic and an existing commercial dock, alongside land use and zoning changes for a property on Pineapple Lane.
One significant item, identified as ID#26-0400, involves a request for Flexible Development approval for the conversion of a property at 375 Turner Street in the heart of downtown Clearwater into a medical clinic. The proposal seeks flexibility for reduced off-street parking and modified landscaping for the existing building, which does not exceed 35 feet in height and includes 57 off-street parking spaces. This project is designated as a Comprehensive Infill Redevelopment Project within the Institutional (I) District.
Additionally, Council will consider ID#26-0401, a Flexible Development approval for an existing 1,838 square foot commercial dock, including a new boat lift, accessory to 27-unit attached dwellings at 125 Island Way in the scenic Island Estates neighborhood. This property is located within the High Density Residential Island Estates Neighborhood Conservation Overlay (HDR/IENCOD) and Preservation (P) Districts.
Two related items, ID#26-0402 and ID#26-0403, concern the property at 1399 Pineapple Lane. The first seeks an amendment to the city’s Future Land Use Map, changing it from the Residential Low (RL) category (Pinellas County) to the Recreation/Open Space category (City of Clearwater). The second proposes an amendment to the city’s Zoning Atlas, shifting it from the Residential Agriculture (R-A) district (Pinellas County) to the Open Space/Recreation (OS/R) district (City of Clearwater).
These items are currently listed as 'Agenda Ready' and will be presented to the City Council for review and action. Residents interested in these developments are encouraged to follow the City Council's meeting schedule, which typically occurs approximately every 18 days at 6:00 PM.
