City Council to Consider Key Development Projects and Recognitions
Clearwater City Council is set to address several important items at their upcoming meeting, including flexible development approvals for a medical clinic and a commercial dock, as well as land use map amendments. Residents can expect decisions on these matters that will impact local zoning and community development.
One significant item on the agenda is the flexible development approval for the conversion of a property at 375 Turner Street in downtown Clearwater into a medical clinic. This project, identified as FLD2025-10026, seeks flexibility for reduced off-street parking and landscape buffers. Additionally, a flexible development approval (FLD2026-01002) is requested for an existing 1,838 square foot commercial dock with a new boat lift at 125 Island Way, accessory to 27-unit attached dwellings within the High Density Residential Island Estates Neighborhood Conservation Overlay.
The Council will also review amendments to the city’s Future Land Use Map and Zoning Atlas for the property located at 1399 Pineapple Lane. These amendments (LUP2026-02001 and REZ2026-02001) propose changing the land use from Residential Low (Pinellas County) to Recreation/Open Space (City of Clearwater), and the zoning from Residential Agriculture to Open Space/Recreation, respectively.
In addition to development matters, the City Council will recognize Fire Fighter Charles Stokes with a Medal of Courage Award, alongside an award for the Pinellas County Deputy who assisted in the incident. The Council will also consider the approval of new hires as plan members and review requests for vested and regular pensions.
The next Neighborhood and Affordable Housing Advisory Board meeting is scheduled for April 14, 2026, at 9:00 AM in the downtown Main Library - Council Chambers.
