City Council to Consider Flexible Development Requests and Proclamations
Clearwater City Council is set to address a range of local issues and recognitions at its upcoming meeting. Among the key items on the agenda are several flexible development approvals and two significant proclamations.
One notable flexible development request, ID#26-0400, involves the conversion of a property at 375 Turner Street in downtown Clearwater into a medical clinic. This Level Two Application seeks flexibility for reduced off-street parking and modified landscaping through a Comprehensive Landscape Program. Another Level Two Application, ID#26-0401, concerns an existing 1,838 square foot commercial dock at 125 Island Way, accessory to 27-unit attached dwellings within the High Density Residential Island Estates Neighborhood Conservation Overlay and Preservation Districts.
Additionally, the Council will review Level Three Applications ID#26-0402 and ID#26-0403, proposing amendments to the city's Future Land Use Map and Zoning Atlas, respectively, for the property located at 1399 Pineapple Lane. These amendments would change the designation from Residential Low (RL) and Residential Agriculture (R-A) to Recreation/Open Space (OS/R).
In terms of community recognition, the Council will consider a National Safe Boating Week Proclamation (ID#26-0407), particularly resonant for Clearwater's vibrant coastal boating culture. A Medal of Courage Award Presentation (ID#26-0395) is also on the agenda, honoring Fire Fighter Charles Stokes and a Pinellas County Deputy for their assistance.
Further items include the approval of minutes from the March 17, 2026, Community Development Board meeting (ID#26-0399), along with several pension-related actions: approval of new hires as plan members (ID#26-0396), and review and action on employees' requests for vested (ID#26-0397) and regular (ID#26-0398) pensions.
Clearwater residents interested in these matters can attend the City Council meeting, which typically occurs approximately every 18 days at 6:00 PM.
