City Council to Consider Flexible Development Approvals and Land Use Changes
Clearwater City Council is set to review several key development proposals and land use amendments at an upcoming meeting. Among the items on the agenda are two flexible development approvals and two significant land use and zoning changes affecting properties on Turner Street in downtown Clearwater and Pineapple Lane.
One flexible development request, ID#26-0400, seeks approval for the conversion of a property at 375 Turner Street into a medical clinic. This proposal, a Comprehensive Infill Redevelopment Project, requests flexibility for reduced off-street parking and modified landscape buffers. The existing building does not exceed 35 feet in height, and the modified parking lot includes 57 off-street parking spaces.
Another flexible development application, ID#26-0401, concerns an existing 1,838 square foot commercial dock with a new boat lift at 125 Island Way in the picturesque Island Estates neighborhood. This property is accessory to 27-unit attached dwellings within the High Density Residential Island Estates Neighborhood Conservation Overlay (HDR/IENCOD) and Preservation (P) Districts.
Additionally, the Council will consider an amendment to the city’s Future Land Use Map (ID#26-0402) for the property located at 1399 Pineapple Lane. This amendment proposes changing the designation from Residential Low (RL) to Recreation/Open Space. Concurrently, a zoning atlas amendment (ID#26-0403) for the same Pineapple Lane property seeks to rezone it from Residential Agriculture (R-A) to Open Space/Recreation (OS/R).
These items are currently listed as 'Agenda Ready' and will be presented for action at a future City Council meeting, which typically occurs approximately every 18 days at 6:00 PM.
