Bank records and shipping documents cited by investigators reportedly show transactions and shipments linked to Zhang. Authorities report that Zhang used encrypted communication applications to coordinate chemical shipments. These shipments, according to the indictment, often arrived in Mexico disguised as legitimate industrial products. Once in Mexico, individuals allegedly associated with drug cartels received and transported the chemicals to clandestine laboratories.
