CDC Reports 10 Salmonella Outbreaks Linked to Diverse Sources This Year

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has reported 10 Salmonella outbreaks as of August 2026. These outbreaks have connections to a range of sources, including both food products and animals.

Investigators identified jalapeño peppers, shell eggs, and moringa leaf powder among the food items linked to illnesses. Backyard poultry also contributed to some of the reported cases. Animal sources included reptiles such as turtles, chameleons, geckos, and bearded dragons. The CDC continues to monitor these situations.
