Canadiens Defeat Sabres, 3-2, on Suzuki's Overtime Winner
The Montreal Canadiens defeated the Buffalo Sabres 3-2 in overtime, winning the series. Nick Suzuki scored the game-winning goal 5:20 into overtime.
Cole Caufield scored his series-leading fifth goal, giving Montreal a 1-0 lead. Buffalo's Tage Thompson tied the game in the second period with his fourth goal of the series. Josh Anderson put Montreal ahead again with a power-play goal in the third period. JJ Peterka tied the game at two for Buffalo, forcing overtime.
Canadiens goaltender Sam Montembeault stopped 31 of 33 shots. Ukka-Pekka Luukkonen made 28 saves on 31 shots for the Sabres.
The Canadiens will now face the Carolina Hurricanes in the next round.
