Buffalo Police Nab Parolee in 9-Home Burglary Spree
National Desk
May 3, 2026
Buffalo police announced the arrest of Dale Gabler, 52, of Buffalo, just after 1 a.m. Monday on the 800 block of Amherst Street in the D District. Officers charged him in connection with nine burglaries spanning September 5 to 15 in neighborhoods including Elmwood Village, Allentown, Linwood Avenue and areas along Niagara Street and Lincoln Parkway.[1][2][3][4] Gabler matched witness descriptions and possessed two wallets and 14 credit and debit cards not in his name at the time of capture.[1]
The break-ins targeted homes on specific dates and blocks: September 5 on the 300 block of Middlesex Road and the first block of Plymouth Avenue; September 10 on the 800 block of Niagara Street; September 11 on the first block of Richmond Avenue; September 14 on Hallam Road, the 200 block of Lincoln Parkway (two homes), and the 100 block of Fordham Drive; and September 15 on the 800 block of Amherst Street.[1][4] Police say Gabler was attempting to steal a vehicle at the Amherst Street residence when homeowners intervened, leading to his arrest.[4] He faces 12 felony counts including burglary, grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property, plus multiple misdemeanors.[1][2]
Gabler had been released on parole in August after serving 13 years for a 2012 burglary series in Buffalo's Elmwood Village and Linwood Avenue areas.[1][2][3] Authorities noted his prior pattern mirrored the recent spree, targeting upscale residential zones in Erie County's Queen City.[3] He was scheduled for arraignment Tuesday morning in Buffalo City Court.[1]
