BSO Seeks Help Finding Missing 67-Year-Old from Oakland Park

National Desk
May 10, 2026
OAKLAND PARK, Fla. — The Broward Sheriff’s Office Missing Persons Unit issued an alert Wednesday for 67-year-old Michael Lennon, who was last seen around 4:20 p.m. Tuesday near the 300 block of Northwest 43rd Court, according to a BSO press release reported by Local 10 News. Lennon is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing about 150 pounds, with white hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, yellow tie, blue jeans and black shoes. Family members told detectives that Lennon has dementia, raising concerns for his safety in the neighborhood near Northeast 31st Street and Dixie Highway. Anyone with information is asked to call BSO Det. Chris Blankenship at 954-321-4268 or the non-emergency line at 954-764-4357. This marks the latest in a series of missing persons cases in Oakland Park, including 85-year-old Henry Whitley last seen on the 700 block of Northwest 35th Street in July 2025 and 65-year-old Michael Vassell, who was safely located in March 2026 near the 4900 block of Northwest Ninth Avenue, per BSO updates. The search comes amid heightened public safety concerns across South Florida urban areas, where violent crime incidents have spiked alongside state trends. While older missing persons alerts like Vassell's were resolved quickly through community tips, BSO emphasizes the role of residents in areas like Oakland Park's residential streets off Commercial Boulevard. Earlier cases, such as 59-year-old Hernandez located unharmed near local spots in December, highlight effective public cooperation, according to BSO's official PIO releases. Oakland Park residents should remain vigilant, especially with broader Florida challenges including a tropical depression threatening the Gulf Coast and recent urban violence like the Orlando nightclub shooting. BSO's Missing Persons Unit continues active investigations, urging tips on Lennon or similar cases. For updates, check BSO's website at sheriff.org.
