Brevard Public Schools Welcomes 270 New Educators, Filling 99% of Classroom Positions

Brevard Public Schools bolstered its instructional workforce by welcoming 270 new educators at its annual New Teacher Academy on Thursday, July 30. This influx of new talent helped the district fill 99% of its classroom positions as the new school year began.

The New Teacher Academy, held in late July, introduced new hires to district leaders, colleagues, and various resources. The event aimed to equip them for a strong start to the academic year. Attendees included both first-year teachers preparing for their own classrooms and experienced educators beginning new chapters within Brevard Public Schools.

With nearly 5,000 teachers serving students across the district, the 270 new hires represent approximately 5% of the total instructional workforce. This figure reflects the district's ongoing success in recruiting and retaining high-quality educators for Palm Bay and surrounding communities.

During the academy, participants received information on district initiatives, instructional expectations, and professional development opportunities. They also learned about the support systems available to help them succeed in the classroom. The New Teacher Academy serves as a foundational step in each educator's journey with Brevard Public Schools.
