Brad Baylor Appointed to Punta Gorda City Council Vacancy
PUNTA GORDA – Brad Baylor, a familiar face in local community service, was officially appointed to the Punta Gorda City Council during a special meeting held yesterday, April 7, 2026. Baylor fills the vacant District 3 seat, left open by the recent resignation of Councilwoman Sarah Jenkins.
Baylor, a long-time resident of the city's historic district near the banks of the Peace River, brings a wealth of experience to the council. He previously served on the city's Planning and Zoning Board for five years and is known for his involvement with the Punta Gorda Civic Association. His appointment is effective immediately, and he is expected to be sworn in at the next regular City Council meeting on April 22, 2026, at City Hall in the historic downtown, located at 326 W. Marion Avenue.
Residents can anticipate seeing Baylor representing District 3 at upcoming public forums and community events. His first official duties will include participating in discussions regarding the proposed waterfront park expansion along Charlotte Harbor and the upcoming budget review for the 2026-2027 fiscal year.
