Construction of a border barrier in the Yuha Desert intersected a large ground carving known as the Las Playas intaglio. Researchers estimate the carving, which depicts a fish, predates the first Egyptian pyramid by more than 2,000 years.
The archaeological feature, also known as the Las Playas intaglio, consists of a design etched into the desert floor. Archeologists have identified the depiction as a fish.
Work on the border barrier took place in the area where the carving is located. Construction involved earthmoving and ground disturbance.
