Blaze Engulfs Lincoln's Courtyard Oyster Bar, Shaking Community

LINCOLN, Ala. — Fire tore through the Courtyard Oyster Bar and Grill late Sunday night, heavily damaging the popular Lincoln restaurant known for its live music, packed Talladega Superspeedway race-week crowds and tight-knit community vibe. Lincoln fire crews rushed to the scene overnight after reports of a blaze that illuminated the sky for miles, according to employees and initial reports from ABC 33/40.[1][2]
Nighttime manager Jacob Hudson and his coworkers were off-site when frantic messages alerted them to the inferno. 'At first we’re like maybe it’s just a small fire, maybe just smoke damage,' Hudson recounted. 'But when we got here, the whole building was engulfed.' The restaurant had been shuttered since Wednesday due to a city violation over a missing business license, sparing staff from being inside during the blaze.[1]
For local musicians like Bill Knight of Knight and Dave, the Courtyard was more than a gig spot — it was home turf. 'We played here so much they were regulars to come here and of course we do all the staff so it’s sad,' Knight said. Hudson emphasized its economic lifeline: 'Talladega week is usually our bread and butter. We have tons of entertainment. This place, we packed out from Monday all the way to Sunday.'[1]
The cause of the fire remains under investigation as the community reels. Lincoln city leaders and Courtyard owners are set to meet Tuesday night at City Hall to discuss reopening prospects and next steps for the devastated venue.[1]
