Blackwell's Celebrates 50 Years Serving Jacksonville
Jacksonville’s beloved local hardware store, Blackwell's, is marking a significant milestone this week, celebrating 50 years of continuous service to the community. Located in the heart of downtown Jacksonville at 123 Main Street, Blackwell's has been a cornerstone for residents seeking everything from plumbing supplies to gardening tools since its opening in April 1976.
Founded by Robert Blackwell, the store has remained a family-run business, now managed by his daughter, Sarah Blackwell-Johnson. "It's incredible to think of all the changes Jacksonville has seen in 50 years, and we're proud to have been a part of so many home projects and community efforts," said Blackwell-Johnson. "We've always strived to be more than just a store; we're a place where neighbors can find advice, a friendly face, and that one obscure part they can't find anywhere else." The family has contributed to local initiatives, from home restorations in the historic Riverside neighborhood to community projects along the St. Johns River.
To commemorate the occasion, Blackwell's will be hosting a customer appreciation day this Saturday, April 12th, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The event will feature special discounts on select items, refreshments, and a chance to share memories with the Blackwell family. Residents are encouraged to stop by and celebrate five decades of local business success.
