Belleair Hires Utility Maintenance I for Critical Water System Upgrades and Operations

The Town of Belleair is actively seeking a Utility Maintenance I technician to bolster its Water Department. This crucial role focuses on the inspection, repair, maintenance, and replacement of the town's water distribution systems, ensuring residents continue to receive reliable water services.

This position directly impacts the daily lives of Belleair residents by maintaining essential infrastructure. The technician will work on valves, meters, fire hydrants, various water lines, and backflow devices. The role involves hands-on work, including pavement cutting, trench digging, and main and pipe repair, as well as driving trucks to haul materials for construction and maintenance projects.

Candidates for the Utility Maintenance I position must hold a valid State of Florida Driver’s License. Within two years of hire, the successful applicant must obtain a State of Florida DEP Level 3 Distribution System Operator license. The Town of Belleair provides training for this certification. Additionally, a current CPR / AED certification is required within one year of hire, with training also provided by the town.

The role reports to the Water Distribution Manager and requires participation in an on-call schedule for emergencies. Technicians will work in varying and often inclement outdoor weather conditions.
