The British Broadcasting Corporation has conducted analyses of videos circulating online, which claim to depict extreme weather events in China. These analyses focus on verifying the origin and content of the footage, differentiating between authentic recordings and those generated or altered digitally.

One video under scrutiny showed a massive wave engulfing a giant Buddha statue. Viewers shared this particular clip widely across social media platforms. The BBC investigation identified this video as a digital creation, noting inconsistencies in the water's interaction with the statue and surrounding environment.

Another video featured an individual navigating floodwaters on a makeshift raft, purportedly near a large building. Researchers determined this video also contained digitally manipulated elements.

A third video, which reportedly showed a car submerged in floodwaters, prompted similar verification efforts. The BBC's assessment concluded this footage was not genuine.

These investigations arise as a rapid dissemination of both genuine and manipulated content frequently follows significant weather events. The analyses aim to provide clarity regarding the factual basis of such widely shared online material.
