Los Angeles defeated the New York Yankees 5-2 on Sunday.
Mike Trout homered in the eighth inning, his seventh of the season. Shohei Ohtani went 2-for-4 with a double. Reid Detmers pitched six innings, allowing one run and striking out seven.
Gerrit Cole pitched 5 2/3 innings for the Yankees, allowing three runs. Aaron Judge went 1-for-4. Giancarlo Stanton drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.
The Angels are currently second in the AL West standings. The Yankees are in first place in the AL East.
