Alex Cora Potentially Linked to Astros Following Red Sox Dismissal
National Desk
April 27, 2026
The Boston Red Sox recently terminated manager Alex Cora and multiple coaching staff members. Subsequently, a report has identified the Houston Astros as a potential landing spot for Cora should the Astros choose to replace their current manager, Joe Espada.
Cora previously served as the Astros' bench coach during their 2017 World Series-winning season. Since Espada's hiring in 2023, the Astros have not won a postseason game, losing in the Wild Card Round in 2024 and missing the playoffs in 2025. As of the reporting date, the Astros hold a 10-18 record, placing them last in the AL West.
