2026 NBA Awards: Gilgeous-Alexander and Wembanyama Among Winners
The NBA has announced the winners of its annual awards for the 2025-2026 season.
Cooper Flagg of the Dallas Mavericks won Rookie of the Year, averaging 21.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game. Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs was named Defensive Player of the Year, averaging 3.1 blocks and 1.0 steal over 64 games, leading the Spurs to a 62-win season. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder secured the Clutch Player of the Year award.
Keldon Johnson of the San Antonio Spurs earned Sixth Man of the Year, contributing 13.2 points and 5.4 rebounds per game off the bench, helping the team to a 62-win season and the Western Conference's No. 2 seed. Nickeil Alexander-Walker of the Atlanta Hawks was named Most Improved Player, posting 20.8 points, 3.7 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. The MVP award went to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder, who averaged 31.1 points and 6.6 assists over 68 games during the Thunder's 64-18 season.
J.B. Bickerstaff of the Detroit Pistons, who led his team to a 60-win season and the top seed in the Eastern Conference, Mitch Johnson of the San Antonio Spurs, and Joe Mazzulla of the Boston Celtics were named as finalists for Coach of the Year.
