Work involves receiving emergency and non-emergency calls from the public, law enforcement officers, and other agencies; determining the nature and priority of the call; dispatching appropriate emergency services; maintaining logs and records; and operating radio and telephone equipment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Answers emergency and non-emergency calls and determines the nature and priority of the call. Dispatches appropriate emergency services such as law enforcement, fire, and EMS. Operates radio and telephone equipment to communicate with emergency responders and other agencies. Maintains accurate and detailed logs of all calls, dispatches, and activities. Monitors various communication channels and alerts. Provides information and assistance to the public as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Basic communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure. Knowledge of basic computer operations. Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Previous experience in a dispatch or call center environment.
