Port Orange Gets $10M to Fix Sleepy Hollow Drainage

Port Orange secured $10 million in Transform386 funding to upgrade stormwater infrastructure in the Sleepy Hollow neighborhood near Jackson Street and Miles Drive.

The project will address chronic flooding that residents experience during heavy rain. City officials estimate the total cost at $21.8 million and are seeking the remaining $11.8 million from other sources.

Construction is scheduled between 2026 and 2030. The planning phase will determine which streets receive new pipes first and what changes the city will make to retention ponds and other stormwater systems.

Transform386 is a regional infrastructure funding initiative that supports projects across Volusia County. Port Orange competed against other municipalities for the grant.

The $21.8 million estimate may change as engineers finalize designs and obtain updated construction bids. Residents will receive updates on construction timelines and traffic impacts as the project moves into design and permitting phases over the next year.
