Tdap Vaccine During Pregnancy Shows Strong Protection Against Whooping Cough in Infants, Study Finds

A new study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) indicates that Tdap vaccination during the third trimester of pregnancy provides substantial protection against whooping cough in infants. The research, published in *Clinical Infectious Diseases*, focused on the vaccine's effectiveness in preventing pertussis, commonly known as whooping cough, in babies.

Researchers found that maternal Tdap vaccination during the third trimester prevented 78% of whooping cough cases in infants younger than two months.

The CDC continues to recommend Tdap vaccination for pregnant individuals during the third trimester to protect newborns from this serious respiratory illness.
