Dense Fog Advisory for Northeast Illinois Until 7 AM CDT

Residents in portions of northeast Illinois, including Winnebago, Boone, McHenry, Lake, Ogle, Lee, De Kalb, Kane, DuPage, La Salle, Kendall, Grundy, Livingston, Northern Cook, Southern Cook, and Northern Will counties, should be aware of areas of fog, including patches of locally dense fog, through early to mid-morning today, September 28, 2026. The National Weather Service (NWS) Chicago IL issued a Special Weather Statement at 4:06 AM CDT, effective until 7:00 AM CDT.

Where fog is most dense, visibilities may be reduced to one-quarter mile or less. Drivers encountering dense fog are advised to increase following distance and use low beam headlights. The NWS emphasizes these actions for safety during reduced visibility conditions.
