Seven appointed residents guide Lighthouse Point's library system as members of the Library Advisory Board. The board, established by Ordinance No. 378 in 1977, meets monthly to review library operations, policies, and community needs.
Board members recommend action on donations, proposed changes to fees and fines, and the development of educational resources. They also review book selections with the Library Director, approve requests for library use, and survey residents to gauge needs. The board prepares an annual report and proposed budget, and makes recommendations to the City Commission regarding library staff employment and compensation.
Current members are Chair Nancy Cohen, Victoria Anderson, Carolyn Bergamini, Mary D’Angelo, Linda Hinkle, James L. Neff, and Sandra Trentacoste. The City Commission appoints these residents, who must live in Lighthouse Point, for one-year terms. The board elects its own officers.
The Library Advisory Board meets at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month in the Library Community Room at 2200 NE 38th Street. These public meetings allow residents to observe discussions on library services.
