Polk County Expands Utility Bill Payment: Online Credit Card & E-Check Options Now Available

Polk County residents now have more ways to pay their utility bills, including new online and in-person options. These changes aim to provide greater flexibility for managing household expenses.

Residents can pay utility bills online through MuniciPAY. This service accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. Be aware that a service fee applies to these online credit card payments, which is 2.5% of the transaction amount or a minimum of $1.50.

Electronic check payments are also available online via MuniciPAY. This option charges a flat service fee of $1.50 per transaction. To use this method, residents need their 9-digit routing number and account number from their personal checks.

For those who prefer to pay in person, the town hall accepts payments on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, excluding state or federal holidays. Accepted payment methods at town hall include cash, check, money order, or credit card. A town service charge of $5 applies to all in-person credit card payments, in addition to a credit card company convenience fee.

An after-hours payment box is located outside the town hall for residents to drop off payments. Credit card payments by phone are limited to Fridays and the 20th of each month.

These new payment methods come under town Ordinance O-21-14, which established the framework for these updated options. The goal is to streamline the payment process for utility services.
