Tonya Hankins Retires as BRTC Nursing Director After 17 Years

Tonya Hankins retired last week as Director of Nursing at Black River Technical College after 17 years leading the program.

Hankins oversaw student admissions, curriculum development, clinical placements, and program accreditation. She guided the nursing program through curriculum overhauls, floods, and health crises.

A colleague praised her leadership at a retirement reception: "Tonya is always calm in the storm. She handles situations with grace, compassion, and integrity."

BRTC honored Hankins at a retirement reception and end-of-year celebration, presenting her with a plaque and her choice of a bench or rocking chair.

The nursing program trains students for healthcare careers throughout northeast Arkansas. BRTC has posted employment opportunities for interested candidates on its website.
