At 105 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 8 miles northwest of Washington, or 9 miles north of Coolville, moving east at 25 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include... Parkersburg, Marietta, Belpre, Vienna, Williamstown, Belmont, Washington, Boaz, Lubeck, Newport, North Hills, Willow Island, Petroleum, Little Hocking, Schultz, Waverly, Fleming, Blennerhassett, and Bartlett.

This includes the following highways... Interstate 77 in West Virginia between mile markers 173 and 186. Interstate 77 in Ohio between mile markers 1 and 3. Route 50 in West Virginia between mile markers 1 and 25.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to travel across flooded roads. Find alternate routes. It takes only a few inches of swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away.
