CRAWFORD/CHEROKEE COUNTIES – Residents in Crawford and Cherokee counties should seek shelter indoors immediately due to a strong thunderstorm moving northeast at 20 mph. The National Weather Service in Springfield, MO, issued a Special Weather Statement at 3:12 PM CDT, effective until 3:45 PM CDT.

Doppler radar indicates the storm, located over West Mineral (8 miles northwest of Columbus), presents hazards including wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny-size hail.
