Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Jefferson County, Act Immediately

A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Jefferson County, including Birmingham and Hoover, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Birmingham, AL, effective immediately as of 4:20 PM CDT on October 9. This warning remains in effect until 12:30 AM CDT on October 10.
Residents should prepare for hazardous winds reaching 25-35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph. Move to safe shelter before winds become hazardous. Damage to unanchored structures, large tree limbs, and some power outages are possible. Complete all property protection efforts as soon as possible.
A Flood Watch is also in effect, with an additional 2-4 inches of rain expected, and locally higher amounts possible. Moderate rainfall flooding could lead to evacuations and rescues. Heed any flood watches and warnings; failure to take action may result in serious injury or loss of life. Rivers and small streams may overflow, and roads may become impassable.
