Pinellas Park residents can contribute to their community through diverse volunteer opportunities with the city's Leisure Services Department. The department seeks individuals for roles ranging from behind-the-scenes support to hands-on program assistance.
The city encourages residents with special skills, hobbies, or talents to share them with program participants. Opportunities include teaching games, crafts, recipes, or cultural dances.
A Level 2 screening is mandatory for those interested in working with youth. Volunteer applications are available online through the CivicRec software. Interested individuals can also visit facilities to discuss opportunities and obtain paper applications. The city requires fully completed and approved applications, looking for reliable candidates with enthusiasm and the ability to work well with others.
Specific Volunteer Needs:
The Farm needs reliable volunteers for gardening, assisting with farm tours, tidying, cleaning, and preparing materials for events. Limited animal care assistance opportunities are also available. Youth roles at The Farm are for teens and older children capable of independent tasks; a guardian may be required for supervision.
The Library welcomes volunteers aged 13 and older for shelving and administrative support. Roles include planning and presenting programs for children and teens, assisting with craft preparation, creating costumes and props, helping with children's programs, cleaning, organizing, and shelving. Teens can also join the Teen Advisory Board (T.A.B.) to promote library services and plan events.
The Pool offers a Junior Lifeguard program during the summer for participants who pass a course and demonstrate maturity and swimming skills. Junior Lifeguards assist with pool supervision and cleaning, providing experience for those interested in paid lifeguard positions.
Other Recreation Sites, including youth and senior centers and sports leagues, also require volunteers. Adults can coach youth sports leagues, and teens can serve as Jr. Summer Camp Counselors. The Senior Center seeks help with activity assistance, food event setup and cleanup, shuffleboard cleaning, and garden-box maintenance.
How to Apply:
Prospective volunteers can find opportunities on the city's CivicRec software. For personalized assistance or specific ideas, visiting the facility of interest is recommended. All volunteer work requires a fully completed and approved application on file.
