Pinellas Park Police Department Hiring 106 New Officers

The Pinellas Park Police Department is hiring 106 full-time officers. The department's recruiting unit manages the hiring process, which includes background investigations assisted by Police Applicant Screening Services (PASS).

The department offers a comprehensive benefits package. Officers receive 10 annual holidays, 100 hours of paid vacation that increases with service, 16 hours of personal leave, and 96 hours of paid sick leave. Shifts are 12 hours with alternating weekends off.

Additional benefits include credit union membership, deferred compensation, low-cost health and dental coverage for employees and dependents, an on-site fitness center, life insurance, long-term disability, and a pension plan. A 3-year Deferred Retirement Option Program (DROP) is available.

Candidates must be at least 19 years old, a U.S. citizen, and a high school graduate or equivalent. Applicants must pass a physician's examination and drug screening, demonstrate good moral character, and have completed at least 30 college credit hours with a GPA of 2.0 or higher. A valid driver's license is required. Candidates must not have a dishonorable discharge from the U.S. Armed Forces or a felony conviction involving perjury or false statement.

The selection process includes a background investigation, completion of the PASS process, adherence to the agency's drug and tobacco policy, an oral board interview, an oral interview, a patrol ride-along evaluation, a physical examination, a polygraph examination, and a psychological examination.

The starting salary for a police officer is $68,822.52 annually, with additional monthly stipends for college degrees. Overtime pay and secondary employment opportunities can supplement income.
