Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA)

In 1988, by Resolution No. 88-76, the City created the Pinellas Park Community Redevelopment Agency to address the blighted conditions according to Florida Statutes, Chapter 163.340 (8)(A). The purpose of the Agency is to revitalize the physical environment and the economy of the Community Redevelopment Area. The CRA's activities are designed to solve the underlying problems of slum and blighted conditions through planning, redevelopment, historic preservation and affordable housing so that the tax base can be protected and enhanced by these mutually supportive activities. Meetings will be held at: City Hall, Council Chambers 5141 78th Ave N Pinellas Park, FL, 33781 Overview This is an appointed advisory board which reviews all requests for amendments to the Land Use Plan Map, amendments to the Zoning Code and Official Zoning Map, conditional uses, variances related to conditional use requests, change of nonconforming uses, vacations and other matters as may be specifically requested by the City Council to be studied by the Commission. This board also serves as the City’s Local Planning Agency that hears matters related to the administration of the City's Comprehensive Plan. "The City's agritourism center, named after late Councilwoman Patti Johnson, is still very much at the start of its journey. Our Focus The farm's primary focus is on educating school-aged children about where our food comes from and what's involved with basic operations of a farm. Our garden areas are in their infancy, and we hope that in a few years, a lush mix of colorful and fruitful plants, butterflies, and birds will be making the farm their home alongside the small number of traditional farm animals on site. Programming Programming on the farm will include: Introductory gardening classes Introductory workshops on raising backyard poultry Starting a compost or worm bin Preserving the bounty after a big harvest As we grow, we anticipate a peppering of animal shows, seasonal celebrations and just-for-fun events. Those who visit will notice that we'll always be a work in progress - some structures may come and go, some areas of the grounds may be dug up, some plants may move around. And yes, even the animals may change occasionally as nature runs its course. We hope that the farm will be an asset to our students as well as to the larger community as a place to discover, learn, and grow. "TeenWorkX What we do We are known for helping the City of Pinellas Park. We are on the case whether it be cleaning up parks (sometimes even with kayaks!), maintaining various gardens, food drives, assisting at fun city events like City BBQ and Country in the Park, or helping local elementary schools. We also hold fundraisers to raise money for our organization, with some of that money going to Holiday gifts for teens in need. There are plenty of opportunities to be involved year-round and we love meeting new friends. Mission Statement We strive to improve and beautify our community by supporting organizations, hosting projects, and creating family fun activities and opportunities for all to enjoy. We want to inspire lifelong memories within the community through our TeenWorkX Volunteer group. Our plea is to motivate the youth around us through our hard work and commitment to fight for a better tomorrow. Awards TeenWorkx: Winner of the 2023 FLC Municipal Youth Council Video Competition About Us: We are a proud group of teens in grades 6-12 that love working together. Our nonprofit organization (now classified as a 501(c) started in 2019 and holds monthly meetings open to everyone at The Hub (7780 60th St N.). TeenWorkX volunteers are a part of a hardworking and successful team, and we hope to grow and better our community with your help! Board Duties: (Board members work with our current city liaison, Felix Fred, and are responsible for leading the group. Positions are reelected every August) President Run meetings, engage everyone, handle social media accounts, and schedule meetings/events.
