Weston Tayebati '28: Engineering Future in Pinecrest

Pinecrest resident Weston Tayebati, class of 2028, is actively pursuing his engineering passion through diverse experiences. His journey, fueled by a childhood love for building and a growing interest in problem-solving, spans local classrooms to international programs and professional internships.

Tayebati's engineering focus solidified during his freshman year. A physics project requiring him to build a miniature arcade game with a force sensor, LED lights, speakers, and an Arduino transformed his enjoyment of building with Legos into a tangible understanding of creating functional systems.

Last summer, Tayebati participated in the Immerse Education program at Corpus Christi College, University of Cambridge. He focused on quantum teleportation for his final project, simulating qubit state transfer using quantum entanglement and classical communication with Python and Qiskit. His dedication earned him first place in the program's competition.

This summer, Tayebati gained practical experience through an externship with Neoenta, a medical technology design and engineering firm in San Diego. After completing an advanced pre-calculus course at Gulliver, he learned to operate specialized equipment and observed engineers developing devices to improve healthcare diagnostics. This experience motivated him to develop solutions that save time, reduce costs, and alleviate user stress.

Tayebati also attended the Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine conference with Neoenta. There, he answered questions from industry representatives at the company's booth, drawing on skills honed in Mr. Rossi's chemistry class at Gulliver. That class required students to present laboratory results in simulated business scenarios and field unscripted questions, teaching Tayebati the importance of thoroughly understanding his work.
