Gulliver Prep Seniors Named National Merit Semifinalists

Eight seniors at Gulliver Preparatory School have been named Semifinalists in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program, recognizing them as among the nation's highest-scoring students.

The Semifinalists are Matthew Bartel, Lucas Bueres, Gabriel Echevarria, Logan Garcia, Adrian Iziliaev, Luiza Goncalves Padoveze, Eduardo Quintero Davila, and Ruby Rodriguez-Valdivia. Their selection acknowledges their academic achievement.

These students qualified by taking the 2025 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Of more than 1.2 million juniors nationwide who took the test, approximately 16,000, or less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, were named Semifinalists.

More than 15,000 Semifinalists nationally are expected to advance to Finalist standing. The National Merit Scholarship Corporation will award approximately 6,700 scholarships totaling nearly $24 million next spring.

Last year, eight Gulliver Prep seniors also achieved Semifinalist status. Two of them, Elisa Tarac and Justin Merner, both Class of 2026, earned the Merit Scholar title.

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation will notify Finalists in February. Scholarship winners will be announced from April through July 2027.
