I had the honor of serving on the Haldane school board for nine years and in that time I came to learn what makes a board member, and ultimately a school district, successful. It’s having a dynamic skill set that includes leadership, big picture thinking, collaboration, empathy and patience. It’s putting any personal agenda items aside and working toward the greater good of a diverse community of varying needs and perspectives. It’s being willing to do the slow, deliberate and sometimes painstaking work to move a school community forward towards a shared vision. I believe Adam Burgoon has these qualities and will be an excellent addition to the current board. Adam has my vote and my appreciation for raising his hand to step into this important and challenging role.
