Residents in the Lower Columbia Basin of Oregon and Washington, Foothills of the Blue Mountains of Oregon and Washington, North Central Oregon, Kittitas Valley, and Yakima Valley are advised to take immediate steps to protect sensitive vegetation and outdoor plumbing. The National Weather Service (NWS) Pendleton has issued a Freeze Watch, effective from this evening, October 12, until 9:00 AM PDT on Tuesday, October 13.

Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30 degrees Fahrenheit are possible during this period. These conditions could result in frost and damage or kill crops and other sensitive plants, as well as potentially harm unprotected outdoor plumbing.

The NWS Pendleton recommends that individuals take action now to cover or bring inside tender plants. Additionally, consider insulating outdoor pipes to prevent damage.
