A Freeze Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Pendleton, OR, effective from this evening, October 12, 2026, through Tuesday morning, October 13, 2026, until 9:00 AM PDT. Residents in the affected areas are advised to take immediate steps to protect sensitive plants and outdoor plumbing from sub-freezing temperatures.

The affected areas include the Lower Columbia Basin of Oregon and Washington, the Foothills of the Northern and Southern Blue Mountains of Oregon, the Foothills of the Blue Mountains of Washington, and North Central Oregon. Temperatures as low as 30 degrees Fahrenheit are possible.

The NWS warns that frost and freeze conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation. Unprotected outdoor plumbing may also be damaged. Therefore, it is crucial to take preventative measures now.

Instructions from the NWS advise taking steps to protect tender plants from the cold. Residents should also consider protecting outdoor plumbing by covering pipes or draining irrigation systems.
